Temporary event notices (TENS)

The Temporary Event Notice (TEN) system has now replaced occasional licences. A TEN permits a premises/club to supply alcohol, regulated entertainment and provide late night refreshment.

In order to submit a TEN the premises user will be required to:-

  1. Complete and submit the TEN in duplicate to the Licensing and Registration Section at least 10 clear working days prior to the event. (Please note weekends and bank holidays are not classed as a working day).
  2. Submit the appropriate fee.
  3. Simultaneously, the premises user must submit a copy of the TEN to the Chief Officer of Police. Please note the Police can object to a TEN under the ‘Crime and Disorder’ licensing objective.

The address for the copy notice to be served on the Police is:-

The Superintendent (Licensing)

South Wales Police

‘F’ Division, Bridgend

Brackla Street

Bridgend

CF31 1BZ

  1. The TEN will be acknowledged by the Licensing and Registration Section and returned to the premises user.

There are various limitations and below briefly outlined are the main limitations. However. the full limitations can be found on the ‘notes’ at the back of the TEN form:-

Under the Licensing Act 2003, there are exemptions from the requirement to submit a temporary event notice, these are listed under the exemptions section of the website.

For more detailed notes and guidance on TENS please click on the ‘TEN Form’ where you will find the ‘notes’ at the back of the form.

The notes attached to the TEN form must be read by the person submitting the notice prior to completion of the form.
