PERSONAL LICENCES
A Personal Licence allows a person to sell alcohol or authorise the sale of alcohol under the authority of a Premises Licence. A person specified on a Premises Licence as a Designated Premises Supervisor must hold a Personal Licence.
In order to apply for a Personal Licence applicants will be required to apply to the local authority where they are ordinarily residents and:-
- Submit an application form and disclosure of convictions and declaration.
- Submit the original certificate of an approved licensing qualification. Further information on the relevant qualification is available on Department of Culture, Media and Sport Website.
- Submit 2 photographs of the applicant – 1 must be endorsed by a solicitor, notary, person of standing in the community or any professionally qualified person with a statement verifying that the photograph is a true likeness of the applicant.
- Provide a basic disclosure criminal conviction certificate or the results of a subject access search. Visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk to apply online.
- The appropriate fee.
Licences can be granted under the Council’s Scheme of Delegation if applicants meet the relevant criteria. However, if an applicant has been convicted of a ‘relevant’ offence and the Chief Officer of Police considered that this would undermine the crime prevention objective then the application may be placed for consideration by members of the Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee.
