Bridgend County Borough Council is committed to tackling discrimination based on age, and making sure that people of all ages are treated fairly.
We will do this through our roles as a service provider, employer and community leader. Negative attitudes and prejudice based on age can be an issue for older people and younger people alike. But we want our communities to be places where people of all ages are respected and supported to achieve their potential and live their lives to the full.
“Never Too Old”, the Strategy for Older People in Bridgend, was developed through close collaboration between service users and carers, with statutory and voluntary organisations. It provides a clear direction for the improvement of services for older people, in order to promote their health and well-being and to enable them to maintain their independence, potential and participation.
Legislation and Guidance from the Welsh Assembly Government requires each local authority area to develop a Children and Young People’s Partnership. This is made up of the agencies providing services to, or which affect, children and young people, across the age range 0 – 25 years
To find out more about what we are doing to tackle age discrimination in Bridgend County Borough, read our draft Age Equality Statement.
