You can enrol during the week beginning Monday 9 January 2012 on the day and time of the advertised courses.

How a class is formed
A class is viable when a minimum of 10 people are enrolled. If insufficient numbers have enrolled by the end of the administration week, the class will not start and fees will be refunded or transfers to other venues offered.
Please note: Should numbers drop below an acceptable level for more than two weeks during the running of the course, it may be necessary to cancel the class.

Please note: Fees can only be paid using cash or a cheque made out to
Bridgend County Borough Council.

Please note: to claim an exemption or reduction of fees, please bring proof of
your eligibility with you when you enrol.
- 16 to 18 years and in full time education - no charge;
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Job Seekers Allowance (JSA);
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Income Support (IS);
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and/or Incapacity Benefit (IB);
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Severe Disablement Benefit (SDB);
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Guaranteed Pension Credit (GPC).
Please note: Disability Living Allowance is NOT included in the exemptions.
Concessions: band 2
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Council Tax Benefit
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Housing Benefit
- In receipt of/dependent of a person receiving Working Tax Credits.
Awarding organisations
Agored Cymru
Most of the courses in this brochure are accredited by Agored Cymru. There are no exams involved, but continuous assessment takes place throughout the course whilst building a portfolio of evidence. Please note that accreditation is a requirement of the courses and by enrolling on a course learners are agreeing to complete the paperwork involved.
British Computer Society (BCS)
All ECDL courses will be accredited through BCS and will involve taking an examination for each of the four modules.
Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
Workshops and courses offered through the CIEH involve a multiple choice exam.
City and Guilds
The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and PC Maintenance courses in this brochure are accredited through City and Guilds. There are no exams involved, continuous assessment through practical assessments and written assignments takes place throughout the course whilst building a portfolio of evidence.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for accessing a Bridgend Adult Community Learning course, but it is expected that learners will have a level of literacy adequate to cope with the written element and compiling a portfolio. Bridgend Adult Community Learning will not restrict access on the basis of prior academic attainment, age, employment, geographic location or any other grounds.
