Creative Industries Training

We want more people to get training! Our Creative Industries Training Scheme offers opportunities and career paths in a variety of art forms including directing, producing, choreography, project management, set and costume design, stage management, sound and lighting, film, arts marketing and much more.

This free ongoing training scheme set up with funding from the Arts Council of Wales, is open to people of all ages from 15 years plus, regardless of past experience. The hub of the activity is at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl, but we also operate from other theatres and arts venues around the county borough.

Trainees have the opportunity to work with a variety of professional organisations including ITV Wales, theatre companies, film projects, Arts Council of Wales and Bridgend County Borough Council’s Bridgend Youth Theatre, Bridgend Youth Dance and arts development projects. Over 100 trainees of all ages have already taken part in this scheme and have gone on to secure professional technical jobs in the Grand Pavilion and Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre, with many more going on to further education to develop new skills to degree level.

Trainees work closely with professional companies and practitioners when putting together productions and their input in all areas of theatre and performance has a major part to play in each project/performance.
