What is Sewta?
Sewta (the South East Wales Transport Alliance) is a consortium established on 1st April 2003 by the 10 local authorities in South East Wales. Sewta is one of four Welsh transport consortia supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and is working to develop strategic transport policies, improve infrastructure and change peoples' attitudes to transport.

As a member of Sewta, Bridgend County Borough Council has played a key role in developing the Regional Transport Plan for South East Wales.
The system of Regional Transport Plans (RTP) being developed by the local government consortia in Wales will support the Welsh Assembly Government’s Wales Transport Strategy, and its National Transport Plan.
The RTP, and the regional modal strategies that support it, will set out the transport policies and projects for the region. The RTP also contains a 5-year programme of transport schemes which will be located within, or will affect, Bridgend County Borough. The RTP will take effect in April 2010.
