Pollution Control – Water Quality
Water Quality
The Public Protection Department’s Pollution Control Team monitor water quality from a number of sources.
Potable Waters
These include mains and private water supplies. There are 100 registered private water supplies in Bridgend County Borough.
Bathing Water
During the bathing season (May-September) sea water is sampled on a weekly basis from Newton Beach, which is a non-designated bathing beach. Rest Bay, Trecco Bay and Sandy Bay in Porthcawl are designated bathing beaches and these are sampled weekly during the bathing season by the Environment Agency Wales.
Swimming Pools and Spa Pools
Routine samples are taken of all public swimming and spa pools throughout the year.
If you have any queries or problems regarding water quality please contact the Public Protection Department’s Pollution Control Team.
