Noise Control – Noise from Pubs & Clubs
Noise from Pubs & Clubs
The Public Protection Department’s Pollution Control Team receives between 1100 and 1200 complaints every year over three quarters of which are from domestic sources. These include loud stereo music, barking dog and DIY noise. The remaining quarter are due to industrial and commercial sources such as pubs and clubs, factories and construction sites.
Noise from pubs and clubs may amount to a statutory nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. In addition all licensed premises must comply with the licensing objectives of the Licensing Act 2003 which include the prevention of public nuisance.
If you are experiencing problems of noise from a pub or a club, please contact the Pollution Control Team.
