Notes of Joint Agents meeting on 1 December 2011

The Development Control Section of the Development Group is primarily responsible for the processing of all kinds of planning applications. Most decisions on applications are taken by officers under the delegated power arrangements. Members on the Development Control Committee normally decide the most contentious or major proposals.

The Section also deals with planning appeals, enforcement matters relating to breaches of planning control and tree preservation orders.

The Section comprises the Head of Section, 3 Team Leaders (east, west and technical support unit), 2 Principal Planning Officers, 3 Senior Planning Officers, 2 Planning Officers, 2 Planning Assistants, 1 Technical Officer, 1 Appeals Officer and 4 Technical Support Assistants. 1 additional Senior Planning Officer post is frozen.

The Authority not only seeks to determine application in a timely manner but to make quality planning decisions in an open manner. In October 2005 public speaking was introduced at meetings of the Planning and Development Committee and details of applications are now available on the web (click here for details).

Bridgend County Borough Council operates Stage Two of the Planning Portal. Local residents can use the Planning Portal to find out more about submitting planning applications and use the Planning Expert System (Do I need planning permission?) to determine whether planning consent is needed for a domestic project. Further information and a list of useful links can be found on the Planning Portal website and in planning leaflets and forms.

If you wish to pay your planning application fee by credit or debit card, please contact the Development Control Section on 01656 643166 / 643675 or you may send a cheque to the address below made payable to 'Bridgend County Borough Council'.
