Automated Telephone Payments - dial (01656) 642088
Did you know?
You can now pay the following bills and fines using a touch-tone telephone:
- Council tax
- Business rates
- Mortgages
- Car parking fines
Before dialling, you will need:
- Your debit/credit card number - you will need to enter the number on your card using the telephone pad.
- The account reference number of the item you are paying (you can find this on your bill or fine).
- Have a pen and paper handy - After you have made the payment, you will be given a transaction reference number and it is important to write this down, as you may need this to make an enquiry regarding the payment at a later date.
What next?
- Dial the number for automated payments (01656) 642088.
- Listen to the welcome message. You are informed to press the star * key at the end of each entry, and you can press the hash # key to hear the message again.
- You will then be asked to press a number according to what it is you are paying:
- Press 1 for council tax
- Press 2 for business rates
- Press 3 for mortgages
- Press 4 for car parking fines
- Once you have made you selection, you will be asked to enter the reference / account number. Press the star * button after you have entered the number.
- You will then be asked to enter the amount. Please note: there isn't a decimal point button on the phone so you will need to enter the amount as pence! This means to make a payment of £35.00 you will have to enter 3500.
- Press the star * button after you have entered the number. The amount will be repeated to you. If it is correct you press 1, if it is incorrect you press 2 and can re-enter the amount.
- You will then be asked to enter the card number on your debit/credit card (the long number across the top).
- After you have made the payment, you will be given a transaction reference number and it is important to write this down, as you may need this if you need to make an enquiry regarding the payment at a later date.
