Bridgend Bus Station
Following the successful completion of the initial improvements to Bridgend town centre, the project has now entered the next exciting phase to provide a new bus station and improve surrounding access roads including, links with the railway station. These new developments will improve facilities for bus and rail passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike. Bridgend bus station is now closed until the summer and a temporary bus station is situated in Cheapside.

The council has also taken steps to greatly improve facilities including the use of electronic information systems, in line with the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategy for the provision of traveller information for Wales.
Other features include:
• CCTV and emergency help points for improved safety and security
• Touch screen public information kiosk and a public address system
• Toilet facilities and baby changing area
• Space for a shop and driver facilities
• Solar panelling on roof to generate electricity
Outside the bus station area there will be extensive road and highways works including a buses only crossing point over the Cross Valley Link Road. Additional road works in Quarella Road, Market Street, Derwen Road and Station Road will improve facilities for pedestrians, bus and rail passengers, cyclists and motorists and will provide improved links between the bus and rail stations. These works will include realigned kerbs, new footways and pavement finishes, traffic signs and signals.
The contract to carry out these works has been awarded to Wrekin Construction Co. Ltd.
