There are containers for small amounts of asbestos at Tythegston and Brymenyn. The asbestos should be double wrapped in thick polythene sheeting and fully sealed with strong tape. However, you will need to obtain a tipping permit, for which there may be a charge, to dispose of this type of waste as explained below.
Tipping permits
The council operates a tipping permit system for householders wishing to dispose of household rubbish at the household amenity sites, using a non-domestic vehicle such as a van, pickup or large trailer. A large trailer is one with a load length between 1.5 and 2.4m (5’ and 8’). Trailers with a load length exceeding 2.4m (8’) will not be accepted.
The permit must be obtained before visiting. To get one, contact the Clean up the County helpline on (01656) 643 443. Permits are free of charge (other than for asbestos) and upon request subject to an on-site inspection of the relevant waste.
