Porthcawl regeneration comes to Cosy Corner
Bridgend County Borough Council is offering tourism and leisure operators a seasonal opportunity at Porthcawl’s well-known Cosy Corner.
Located near the harbour at Porthcawl sea front, the one-acre site is currently used as a public amenity area.
Cosy Corner is located within the Porthcawl Conservation Area and has a number of listed buildings in the immediate area including the Jennings Warehouse, Old Custom House, the Lookout Tower, the Breakwater and the Lighthouse.
As part of the authority’s ongoing plans for the regeneration of Porthcawl, suitable high-quality operators are being invited to submit bids for using Cosy Corner over the 2009 summer season.
It will be available on a pilot basis for a 28 day period (not necessarily consecutive days) excluding the 28, 29 and 30 August.
Deputy Leader David Sage, Chair of the Porthcawl Regeneration Forum, said: “These proposals aim to contribute to leisure and tourism in Porthcawl and broaden the appeal of the town to visitors. This is a fantastic opportunity and I am looking forward to seeing what ideas are put forward.”
The deadline for the submission of bids is Monday 13 July. An information pack is available on www.bridgend.gov.uk or by calling (01656) 815204.
