Rubbish truck messages don’t go to waste
Rubbish trucks are being used to spell out some important messages about litter, dog fouling and recycling in Bridgend County Borough.
The council has teamed up with contractor Biffa to run three large adverts on the side of its refuse vehicles to help spread the word as the trucks collect household rubbish from communities throughout the county borough.
The first advert focuses on litter and features a hard-hitting image of children playing near broken glass along with a reminder that anyone who drops litter is risking a fixed penalty of £100.
The second advert reminds dog owners to clean up after their pets to avoid a fixed penalty. It shows a dog resting after a long walk with the slogan ‘£100 - our most expensive walk ever!’.
The third advert features the Recyclables, cartoon characters who spread the message ‘Don’t waste our waste - recycle’.
Councillor John Spanswick, Cabinet member for Communities, said: “We all put our rubbish out for collection and refuse trucks are a familiar sight to many people throughout Bridgend County Borough.
“By using them to spread the word about litter, dog fouling and recycling, we can take the message directly into the heart of local communities.”
