Help wanted for coastal clean-up
Volunteers from Bridgend County Borough are being asked to help clean up the coastline as part of the Porthcawl Litter Project.
As part of a partnership organised by the council’s Countryside Management team, tonnes of rubbish have already been removed from areas like Rest Bay and Newton Burrows with the help of local people and groups such as the Porthcawl Lions, Marine Conservation Society, Keep Wales Tidy, Bridgend Probation Service, Bridgend College and Rest Bay Lifeguards.
Councillor David Sage, Deputy Leader at the council, said: “The Porthcawl Litter Project has been so successful that the Welsh Assembly Government is now developing it as a pilot for the rest of Wales.
“This could not have been achieved without the continuing hard work of volunteers who want to preserve the natural beauty that we have in abundance here in Bridgend County Borough.”
