Council extends its opening hours
Bridgend County Borough Council is reminding local residents that it has extended the opening hours of its Customer Service Centre to make it easier and more convenient for local people to do business with the council.
Between Monday to Friday, the centre is now open for business from 8am to 7pm.
Councillor Huw David, the Cabinet member responsible for customer care, said: “Whether it is family or work, everyone has different responsibilities in their lives.
“We understand that for many residents, telephoning or visiting the Civic Offices during traditional opening hours may require organising time off work or arranging for a carer to provide cover.
“As a result, we have expanded our opening times to 8am-7pm to take account of this and make it easier for people to visit or get in touch with the Customer Service Centre.
“We are continually seeking to improve the ways in which people access our services and the centre offers local residents a one stop shop for doing business with the council.”
Based at the Civic Offices in Angel Street, Bridgend, the Customer Service Centre is fully accessible. It features a booking-in system to help manage queues as efficiently as possible and direct visitors to staff who can deal with enquiries ranging from council tax and benefits advice to planning and bus pass applications.
Within a new waiting area, digital signage keeps visitors fully informed about council services and events. Self-serve kiosks have been installed for online payments, viewing planning applications, downloading forms or obtaining copies of publications.
As well as new interview rooms and specially-adapted furniture, Braille, large-print and multi-language translation services are available.
