Bridgend’s good wishes for President-elect
The Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Cleone Westwood, and Council Leader Mel Nott have offered their congratulations to Senator Barack Obama following his victory in the US presidential election.
In a letter to the President-elect, who takes up office in January, Mayor Westwood and Councillor Nott sent good wishes on behalf of the people of Bridgend County Borough.
They wrote: “The citizens of our borough live many thousands of miles from the White House, but the decisions you make there as leader of the free world will affect us all.
“You have already talked about the challenges ahead, from the environment to the economy, and you have recognised that the road will be long and the climb will be steep.
“We share your hope for change and have no doubt that your time in office will have a profound impact on your country and the rest of the world.“
