Bridgend Chief Executive is Welsh Woman of the Year finalist | |
Bridgend County Borough Council's Chief Executive Jo Farrar has reached the final of the prestigious The Western Mail Welsh Woman of the Year 2008 competition. Jo is one of three women to be short listed in the Management Achievement category which is sponsored by the Wales Management Council. The category is open to successful women who perform a managerial role within the private or public sector and who have shown strong leadership and initiative in introducing innovative practices into their working environment, taking the diversity of the workforce into account. |

Jo said: "I was surprised but delighted to be short listed and I feel enormously honoured to be part of an event which celebrates the positive work and achievements of women in Wales. "This is also a great honour for Bridgend County Borough Council as we work towards our vision of becoming the authority which provides the best local services in Wales. I am so proud to be flying the flag for Bridgend in this very important competition." The outstanding achievements of the 10 category finalists and winners will be announced at a black tie dinner at Cardiff International Arena on Friday 21 November. The competition's patron, Glenys Kinnock MEP will present the overall winner with the title The Western Mail Welsh Woman of the Year 2008.
