Bridgend County Borough Council's Built Environment team has been shortlisted for a prestigious architectural award in the Restoration of a Georgian Building in an Urban Setting category. The team were nominated in the Georgian Group 2008 Architectural Awards for the renovation of 10-12 Dunraven Place, based in Bridgend town centre. The building has been sympathetically renovated in the Georgian style using a Townscape Heritage Initiative grant (THI) which came from the Council's PRF funding, CADW and the Welsh Assembly Government. The project has already scooped two other awards - a Green Apple Award and a Civic Trust Bridgend Award. Five businesses employing approximately 50 people currently occupy the building, including a menswear shop, jewellers, Welsh book shop, hairdressers and offices. The team will attend the awards ceremony at Christie's, 8 King Street, London SW1 on Wednesday 5 November 2008. Notes to editors: Please see before and after photographs attached of 10-12 Dunraven Place, Bridgend town centre. More than sixty entries across seven categories were considered for the awards.
