More Enforcement Officers Make A Clean Sweep
Six more council officers from Bridgend County Borough Council have been given delegated powers to act as litter enforcement officers - helping to keep the county borough cleaner.
The council introduced litter enforcement officers in 2002 and since this time, more than 1,000 fines have been handed out to people who litter the streets or allow their dogs to foul in public spaces.
In total, the council now has eight enforcement officers patrolling the county borough, handing out £75 fines to litter offenders and if prosecuted, offenders could face a possible maximum fine of £1000 for allowing their dog to foul and up to £2500 for dropping litter.
Bridgend County Borough Council's Cabinet Member responsible for Environmental and Planning Matthew Voisey says: "I would urge everyone to make sure they dispose of their litter and cigarette ends responsibly and make sure they pick up after their dogs - now the council has even more enforcement officers patrolling the streets, it's highly likely offenders will be caught!"
