Draft Community Strategy Consultation
Introduction
The draft community strategy 2004-2016 sets out a vision for the future of the County Borough of Bridgend. It has been developed by public sector organisations such as the Council, Town and Community Councils, Police, Health and Environmental bodies and representatives from local businesses, voluntary and community organisations as directed by the Local Government Act 2000. These bodies have put together this draft to be a basis for consultation and discussion. It contains a vision for the county borough and key issues for action with objectives for the long and medium term to address those key issues. It also sets out the principles that have directed the development of the strategy.
Your views are sought on all aspects of the draft strategy as laid out in the document and comments and contributions are welcome from any individual, organisation or group with an interest in the County Borough of Bridgend. Your involvement is important in ensuring that the final Community Strategy reflects our joint aspirations for this area and can drive action towards those goals.
Consultation Methods
In order to involve as many people, groups and organisations as possible, a range of consultation methods are being used:
- Online
You can contribute online here, by clicking on the link 'Read the Draft Community Strategy' to read a copy of the draft community strategy and then by clicking on the link to 'Take Part in the Consultation Survey' to answer a few questions about your thoughts on the strategy.
- Leaflets and Printed Documents
A summary leaflet of the draft strategy (which will also include the questionnaire and a freepost address to return your comments to) will be delivered to all residential addresses and to businesses in the County Borough over the summer, and will also be available in libraries, surgeries and other public venues. The full document (including the questionnaire and freepost address) will be distributed widely to organisations and groups across the County Borough over the summer.
- Meetings and Focus Groups
There will be a series of forum meetings and focus groups across the County Borough linking in with a variety of local groups and organisations, a voluntary sector conference and meetings with key strategic partnerships. Details of dates and venues will be posted on this website, as well as the websites of other key partners as they become available, along with information about further opportunities to get involved.

Consultation Period
The Consultation period will begin on 1 June 2004 and comments and views on the draft strategy need to be received by 31 October 2004.
