Substance misuse strategy
Whether it’s alcohol, drug or solvent related, substance misuse affects everyone.
The Bridgend Community Safety Partnership Local Substance Misuse Action Team (LSMAT) is the name of the multi-agency group driving forward the Welsh Assembly Government’s eight year substance misuse strategy. LSMAT membership includes representatives from the local authority, the local health board, Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust, the police, probation service and the voluntary sector to name just a few!
The LSMAT is now in the process of developing a local substance misuse action plan for 2004 and beyond that will:
- address substance misuse prevention, education and awareness raising among children, young people and adults
- develop plans to expand and further enhance local drug and alcohol treatment services
- develop initiatives to stifle the availability of illegal drugs within the community and to reduce the potential for criminal and antisocial behaviour associated with drug and alcohol use
If you have any thoughts on the type of work the Bridgend partnership action plan should consider, would like to contribute to the plan or find out more information about the multi-agency work to tackle drug and alcohol issues within our communities, contact Zoe Martin, Substance Misuse Development Manager at Bridgend LHB/CBC, North Court, David Street, Bridgend CF313TP.
