Art Talk

Wednesday 19 May at 7pm: Bubble-a-Byrlymu

The artists Helen Clifford and Richard Powell will discuss the creative research
they undertook while spending a year exploring the environment of the
Museum of Welsh Life at St. Fagans Cardiff, and show the resulting artworks
and observations which went on to become an artist book.

Wednesday 16 June at 7pm: For some the night is black - for some dark blue

Alf Lohr’s painterly syntax is based on a dance between chance and determination of visual and emotional differences modulated between transparency, layering, drips, splatters, splashes, opacities, luminosities, hues, and tones, given scalar force and dimensionality. His work is about affective states and emotional experience, about the production of such states, through the means of projection - throwing paint and catching it in midair as it were.

Wednesday 14 July at 7pm: Carlos Pinnatti

Carlos Pinatti’s ideas for his films came from first-hand experience of a place or in response to a person or community - from the life of a pigeon fancier in Cymmer to a soldier in Argentina. His latest film was nominated for a Bafta Cymru best short film 2009.

Wednesday 18 August at 7pm: The Art of Street Photography by Glyn Evans

Most of Glyn Evans’ work is for press and tourism, when he works to catch spontaneous shots of people or events as they happen. The artist will discuss his approach and style of photography.
