Bridgend Recreation Centre boasts the area’s largest leisure pool complete with hydro-slide, wave machine and a state-of-the-art Hydrogym which makes it ideal whether you want to get fit, learn to swim or enjoy family fun.

You can also get active at our No Limits Fitness Suite, which has been recently updated with the Technogym and Wellness System, a state of the art interactive and motivational tool which stores personalised gym workout programmes, giving feedback and guidance. Used by over two million people worldwide, the system is recognised as a worldwide leader in fitness equipment. Operated using an individual key at the one off payment of £10, programmes are updated by trainers, keeping users regularly in touch with their personal instructor.

There is also an extensive range of fitness classes, sports hall, courts and numerous clubs to join.

New Fitness workshops at Bridgend Recreation Centre

Bridgend Recreation Centre has introduced a series of fitness workshops aimed to give you a taster of different activities.

These workshops will motivate, encourage and give you something that few other gyms offer and are a chance for you to work with instructors as a group.

Bridgend Recreation Centre celebrates success at staff awards.

Bridgend Recreation Centre has cause to celebrate, having received several nominations in the recent FACE awards. The centre was commended and highly commended in the FACE of Change and FACE of Customer Service categories, respectively. The customer service team, reception staff, and managers were all mentioned, signifying the high standards being achieved within all levels of the centre.

The FACE of Change award recognises individuals or teams that have developed and transformed a new idea into reality. The result could be a benefit to customers, an enhanced service or improved efficiency within the work place. One of the most notable changes to the centre this year was the opening of a state-of-the-art changing village, a facility that has received acclaim on a local and national level from organisations such as the Sports Council for Wales.

Bridgend County Borough Council sports centre and swimming pool managesr who have been awarded quest accrediattion

A commitment to quality and a Quest for excellence…five down, three to go!

Its good news for the residents of Bridgend County Borough as five of Bridgend County Borough Council’s sports centres and swimming pools have now been awarded accreditation to Quest, the UK Quality Scheme for Sport & Leisure.

Quest is a tool for continuous improvement, designed primarily for the management of leisure facilities and leisure development. Quest defines industry standards and good practice and encourages their ongoing development and delivery within a customer focused management framework. Quest is recognised by the Audit Commission and recommended by the British Quality Foundation.

Bridgend Recreation Centre is the fifth centre to be externally validated and celebrated its accreditation on 2 September 2009.

 

The other centres that are Quest registered are; Maesteg Sports Centre, Pencoed Swimming Pool, Ogmore Valley Life Centre and Pyle Swimming Pool.

Nick Evans, Strategy and Performance Manager states: “We are committed to continuous improvement and providing a quality service to our all our customers”. Two of our centres have a ‘commended’ status and it is our intention to accredit all our centres in the future and improve upon the standards already attained. We are aspiring to become the leading sport and physical activity service in Wales and Quest certain challenges all areas of our operation”.

   
     

     

   
     

Bridgend Recreation Centre receives recognition from Amateur Swimming Association

Bridgend Recreation Centre has been commended for its standard of service, becoming the first swim 21 site in Wales. ASA’s swim 21 Learn to Swim Accreditation is a “Quality Mark” and developmental tool, allowing swimmers, teachers and coaches to continually improve. The centre currently offers an “all inclusive programme” that takes the non-swimmer from his or her first splash to developing confidence and competence in the water. This award demonstrates that swimming provisions within the county borough continue to meet the highest levels of quality and consistency.

Changing for the better at the Rec!

Bridgend Recreation Centre’s new £300,000 state-of-the art swimming pool changing village is officially open, offering a well-equipped place for swimmers to change, shower and store their belongings.

The new facility has:

Six family changing rooms, two baby changing rooms, and generous family sized lockers.

Eight individual shower rooms, as well as two group showering rooms

Well equipped disabled showering and additional changing amenities, including a new disabled shower room and enhanced disables access, including a new automatic door.

Hair dryers, large mirrors and a buggy store.
