Tips about how to get best out of an interview.
Before your interview you may want to find out everything you can about the department you are applying to. The council's website is a good source of information, especially the A-Z of services and the Corporate Improvement Plan |
Re-read your application form, and think through your own career and experiences and the questions you might be asked. |
You should try to anticipate the general questions which they will ask and also prepare some questions to ask the interviewer. |
To do well at the interview you will need to convince the interviewer you are qualified or have the experience to do the job. You will also need to show that you are sufficiently motivated to get the job done well and that you will fit in with the team in which you will work. |
Set out in plenty of time for the interview - if you get delayed by traffic or for other unexpected reasons, contact your interviewer if it is safe and appropriate to do so. |
At the interview itself you must be positive about yourself and your abilities - but do not waffle and make sure you answer the question. |
Good luck! |
