People power makes Bryngarw a top destination
Bryngarw Country Park in Brynmenyn, Bridgend has been voted number 13 as the ‘people’s choice’ destination.
At the end of 2010, as part of ‘the Valleys Heart and Soul of Wales’ campaign, residents, businesses, staff, volunteers and visitors were asked to help make the 113 award-winning acres of picturesque parkland a top 50 essential place to visit.
Since then, over 4,500 people from South Wales have voted for their favourites and a big thank you goes out to everyone who voted for the park. Bryngarw Country Park, which boasts Bridgend County Borough Council’s largest park landscape, can now take its rightful place on the list.
Here is a summary of what voters had to say: “Bryngarw Country Park is a wonderful day out for the whole family. Walking trails, wild woodlands, wildflowers and mossy wetlands teeming with life. The gardens are beautiful with children’s adventure area and the house offers a first class restaurant. Great family events on offer throughout the year”.
Open for 25 years, the park’s woodlands, formal gardens, water features and array of wildlife and natural habitats attracts up to 100,000 visitors per year. Visitors can access a range of services including: educational programmes, family events, nature-led guided walks, diverse events programme and a volunteer scheme to name a few.
Last year it was awarded a prestigious Green Flag in recognition of its outstanding features and environmental work.
