Community Chest funding
Community Chest is a Sport Wales initiative that is run locally by our Sport, Play and Active Wellbeing service, with funding applications agreed by a panel of volunteers from communities within Bridged County Borough.
Funding is available to organisations and sports clubs that help encourage more local people to get physically active or take part in sport.
The scheme can provide grants of up to £1,500 for a variety of purposes, including start-up costs, projects that deliver increased participations and improve standards, coach education and volunteer development, initial facility hire and instructor’s costs for new sessions.
Applications can be made at any time throughout the year, with the panel meeting four times a year to award funding. The scheme has helped more than £1million be invested into grassroots sport in Bridgend County Borough over the last 17 years. Grants are funded by Sport Wales via the Lottery Sports Fund for Wales.
The panel is particularly keen to boost the numbers of women and girls taking part in physical activity, encourage participation in disability sport, and increase the range of opportunities on offer in disadvantaged communities.
If you are part of an organisation or sports club and would like to find out more about how to apply please call Andrew Jones on 01656 642745 or email Andrew.firstname.lastname@example.org.
