How to find us

Non-entitled pupils

My child is not entitled to free school transport, is there any other help available?

In some instances extra spaces are available on some school bus contracts and these can be purchased by parents and carers.

How can I purchase a seat?

Seats will be made available when the number of school leavers has been calculated and the availability has been assessed.

To request a seat purchase application form, contact the Home to School Transport Section at or by letter to:

School Transport Section
Civic Offices
Level 2
Angel Street

I purchased a spare seat for my child for the last academic year, will I have to re-apply this year?

Yes – letters and application forms are sent to all parents who purchased a spare seat in the previous academic year, but there is no guarantee that a seat will be available for the new academic year.

My child may not use the transport every day, or will only use it one way. Am I still required to pay the full amount?

Yes – You are required to pay the full amount as you are reserving a seat whether your child travels or not.

If my child is granted a seat on the transport, is this guaranteed for the academic year?

No – if additional entitled pupils require transport and the seats become oversubscribed, non-entitled pupils may have their places removed. Pro-rata refunds will be made to any child that loses their place.

If circumstances change and I no longer require a place for my child on the transport can I cancel the seat?

Yes – to cancel your child’s place and receive a pro-rata refund, contact the Home to School Transport Section by email at or by letter to Transport Department, Civic Offices, Level 2, Angel Street, Bridgend, CF31 4WB, stating the date from which your child will no longer require transport.
