School Admissions Forum
The School Standards and Framework Act 1998, as amended by the Education Act 2002, requires all local authorities to establish an admissions forum. The role of admission forums is set out in the Education (Admission Forums) (Wales) Regulations 2003.
The Bridgend Admissions Forum has a key role in ensuring a fair school admissions system that is straightforward and easy for parents to understand. The Forum is responsible for monitoring the authority’s compliance with the School Admissions Code and may issue advice to the authority on ways in which admission arrangements can be improved.
Membership of the Forum comprises school members (headteachers and governors) and non-school members (local authority officers, members of diocesan authorities and representatives of the local community). The Regulations set down the maximum number of admissible representatives for each group.
In accordance with the Regulations, the Forum meets at least twice per year.
