Distinctive School Uniform Grant

It is the policy of Bridgend County Borough Council to make available a Distinctive School Clothing Grant to all eligible pupils attending a secondary school in years 7-11. The grant is intended to go towards the cost of distinctive school clothing.

As the grant is discretionary, it is for each secondary school to determine the amount of grant and method of payment. Parents are advised to contact the respective secondary school for further information. The current recommended level of the LA grant exceeds that of the Welsh Government and parents are advised that only the higher grant will be paid.

For those families in receipt of the benefits referred to in (1) the Distinctive School Clothing Grant is an automatic entitlement.

Application forms are available from the Council’s Financial Assessments & Benefits Team (FABT) or each school, in the Spring Term, prior to the start of the academic year in September. Also, through the link above.

The FABT would like forms returned ahead of the last week of Spring Term to allow them time to notify Secondary schools of which pupils are eligible and prevent delays in clothing grants being dealt with and issued.  It must not be noted that the Distinctive School Clothing Grant is NOT available for those pupils attending Infant, Junior or Primary Schools.

Any parent requiring further information in relation to the Clothing Grants available is advised to contact the Council’s Financial Assessments & Benefits Team (FABT) on 01656-643396. E-mail
