How to find us

The Environmental protection Act 1990 states that if a person drops, throws, deposits, or leaves anything that causes defacement in a public place; they are committing a littering offence.

Litter is anything that isn’t disposed of appropriately, from small individual sweet wrappers to large bags of waste.

We spend nearly £2 million clearing litter from public areas and litter bins every year in Bridgend County Borough. Removing chewing gum from pavements is a particularly costly and time consuming task.

The council employs Civil Enforcement Officers who can penalise litterbugs under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environmental Act 2005, by issuing £100 fixed penalty notices. Littering is a criminal offence and carries a fine of up to £2,500.
