People with mental health problems

Caer las

Caer las Housing Project is a Supported Shared Housing project (8 units) for single people with mental health issues, who need both accommodation and support. It provides housing related support to eight people in two shared houses in Bridgend. Temporary accommodation is provided in a secure room in a shared house. The eight tenants are supported by one full time support worker who is available for three hours per day between Monday and Friday. An out-of-hours service is available to ensure that tenants can access the organisation 24 hours a day. Caerlas focuses on tackling social exclusion and covers, Swansea, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Cardiff and Carmarthenshire.

Mental Health Matters

Mental Health Matters is a registered charity which provides accommodation with medium support for people who have had a history of mental health related problems.

The Tenancy Support Service (9 units) provides floating support to families who are suffering from the effects of mental or emotional distress.

Gofal Cymru

Gofal is a Registered Charity, overseen by a Board of Trustees, which provides a wide range of services to people experiencing mental ill-health by a pool of skilled and experienced mental health practitioners. Gofal provides accommodation and support at the following 5 schemes in the County Borough:

  • Kenfig Hill – 5 beds self contained with shared bathroom facilities.
  • Brackla, Bridgend – 4 beds, own bedrooms with shared facilities.
  • Cefn Cribbwr, Bridgend – 3 beds, own bedrooms with shared facilities.
  • Bridgend – 1 scheme of 5 beds self contained with shared facilities and 1 scheme of 2 beds, self contained with shared bathroom facilities.
  • The tenants are supported by four support workers.

Glyn cynffig - BCBC

Glyn cynffig Hostel is managed by BCBC Adult Social Care, and provides temporary accommodation with support for people aged 18 and over who experience mental health problems or have co-occurring mental health and substance misuse problems. There are 15 self-contained units and residents are supported by a manager, senior care officers and social care workers.

Hafod Care

Hafod Care Association is a Charitable Housing Association and Registered Support Provider overseen by a Board of Trustees.

Ogwr Floating Support provides 10 units of floating support to people in their own homes with a mental health illness.

Bridgend Group Homes provides 9 units of temporary supported/mental health accommodation:

  • 1 Group Home in North Cornelly
  • 1 Group Home in Kenfig Hill
  • 2 Group Homes in Bridgend

Suffolk/Appleby House, Bridgend provides 6 units of temporary supported accommodation for tenants with a mental health illness

Maple Lane Trust is a small voluntary organisation, set up and managed by 4 trustees. The Trust provides supported accommodation for service users with mental health problems. Accommodation is provided in three terraced properties, each of which accommodates two service users. Support is provided by one full time support worker.
