How to find us

Rest Bay

This is a popular Blue Flag beach with lots of golden sand and very few rocks.

Best Features: Miles of fine quality golden sand.

Lifeguard cover? Lifeguard cover from May to September. Remember, no flag, no lifeguard.

Local Facilities and shops: There is a café bar, toilets, first aid and lost children centre, plus a Surfing Academy offering surfing lessons during peak season.

Great for kids? Miles of golden sand make it ideal for families. Very popular for water sports, beach surfing, canoeing, kite/wind surfing and body boarding. No jet skies please.

How far are the toilets? The toilets are a few minutes walk away, next to the café bar.

Parking: There is one pay and display car park next to the beach, plus several parking bays for disabled drivers overlooking the beach.

Public Transport: Bus services to Porthcawl provided by First Bus. Various direct services run from Bridgend, Cardiff and Swansea. Rest Bay is several miles from the town centre bus stop, so you will either need to walk or join the road train which runs from Porthcawl promenade and stops at various points en route.

How about pets? No dogs allowed on the beach from May to September.

Other points of interest: Very good for walking as you can walk along the coastline to Pink Bay and beyond.

Fancy that! The 1880 Rest Convalescent Home, which overlooks Rest Bay was built with advice from Florence Nightingale.

Where is it? Leave the M4 at junction37 andfollow signs for Porthcawl town centre. At roundabout after - 3 miles, take 3rd exit (Right) onto Newton Nottage Road, which soon becomes Fulmar Rd, following signs for Rest Bay & Nottage. Follow this for 3/4 mile. Fulmar Rd does a sharp L & becomes Mallard Way West. After 200m, turn sharp R. After about 500m, there's a car park by the Rest Bay lifeguard station.
