Bridgend Carers Centre

The Bridgend Carers Centre is a registered charity that supports adult carers from 18 years in their individual and often isolated caring roles.


  • Free quarterly newsletter.
  • Services that are available to carers, including breaks from caring.
  • Signposting to services and organisations that can help.
  • Benefits advice.
  • Legal surgeries.
  • Carers Emergency Card.
  • Drop-in and outreach Services at:-
    • Carers Centre.
    • Trinity Church, Porthcawl.
    • Maesteg Town Hall.
    • Velindre Hospital.
    • Princess of Wales Hospital.
    • Coity Clinic, Princess of Wales Hospital.


  • One to one support at the Carers Centre or home visits.
  • Listening – one to one and group support for young adult carers and parent carers.
  • Help with getting a carer’s assessment.
  • Meeting other carers, sharing information and experiences or just having tea/coffee and a chat.
  • Training to help carers cope.
  • Macmillan Family Information and Support Service.
  • Access to grants to help you in your caring role from the Carers Trust.


  • Social days out and events to give carers a break.
  • Taking care of yourself – weekly exercise, monthly walks.
  • Weekly community café for carers and cared for to enjoy lunch, pick up information and take part in activities all funded by Big Lottery.
  • Pamper days.
  • Book reading.

 Carer involvement

  • Getting carers’ voices heard – Carers Forum.
  • Community Voice funded by Big Lottery giving a voice to young adult carers  aged 16-25 years.
  • Volunteering opportunities.
  • Carer involvement in training of staff, giving talks and sharing their experience.
