Support for learners

Here to help

When you enrol on an ACL course, we want you to reach your full potential, to succeed, and to have an enjoyable experience of adult learning. We understand that there may be times when you need help and support, and we are here to help.

If things go wrong, we will do all we can to put it right!

No matter how hard we try, there will be times when things go wrong. If there are problems, in the first instance you should discuss them with your tutor. If this isn’t appropriate, you should contact the provider of your course.

Struggling to stay on your course?

We understand that there can be many factors which make it difficult to attend classes and keep on top of deadlines. If you feel you may have to consider withdrawing from a course you have enrolled on, please speak to your tutor or get in touch with one of our support teams – we’re all here to help!

Support and guidance

In the life of every learner, of any age, there comes a time when some advice and extra support is welcome… to perhaps help solve a problem that’s not going away or to get some advice so you can make the best decision for yourself.

We also understand that some learners may have personal difficulties that they would like to discuss with specially trained staff on a confidential basis. If you find that this relates to you, please get in touch and ask if we can help.

Basic skills support

If you enrol on a course and find that you are struggling with it because of a problem with reading, writing or doing number work, we can help. Plenty of people are in this position, and you may find that learning is a lot more enjoyable if you ask for help to sort out some basic literacy and  numeracy problems.

Welsh language

If you are thinking of enrolling on a course and would like to learn to speak Welsh, or improve your Welsh skills, we can help. Whether it’s to improve your chances of employment, help your children at school, speak to Welsh-speaking friends and relatives, or just for fun, please get in touch.

Specialist student support

If you are considering enrolling onto a course and have a disability or additional requirements, support and advice may be available to ensure that you are able to realise your full learning potential. This could include assistive technology for visual or hearing impairment, dyslexia support etc. If you have a mobility problem, we can look at different ways we can overcome access issues.
