Pasta means prizes!

15 September 2017

Pupils from Brynteg Comprehensive School in Bridgend have picked up prizes after choosing healthy options for their school meals.

During the summer term, students at the school were given a loyalty card from food supplier ‘Pasta King’, and every time they completed their cards by buying six meals their names were entered into a prize draw.

Other schools across Bridgend County Borough and the rest of the UK also took part, and the goodies up for grabs included bikes, iPads, cinema vouchers and iTunes vouchers.

There were nine lucky Brynteg pupils among the latest prize winners, with year nine student Jack Murray winning a brand new iPad!

The promotion is also running during the autumn term, with the next prize draw being made in December.

Councillor Charles Smith, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “What a tasty start to the new term! Healthy eating is always encouraged in local schools, with our school meal menus packed full of all the nutrients that pupils need in order to develop and fulfil their potential.

“It’s very unusual for so many pupils from one school to get so lucky in a prize draw like this – the Brynteg pupils have clearly been eating a lot of pasta meals, so well done to them on making such healthy choices!”

Parents and guardians are reminded that they can find all of the school meal menus for both primary and secondary schools here.
