Street Roots Festival in Bridgend town centre this weekend

25 May 2017

A ‘Street Roots Festival’ featuring diverse sounds and flavours from across the world is being held in Bridgend town centre this weekend.

The free festival will bring live music, world cuisine, street markets, a street circus, parades, drumming and more to the town centre’s streets on Saturday 27 May and Sunday 28 May from 11am to 8pm.

On Saturday, the bands performing will be Yaaba Funk, The Blims, Evil Turkeys, Moonbirds and Lost Tuesday Society, while Legend Bob Marley, Regime, Junior Bill, Dope Biscuits and Sarasota will provide the soundtrack to Sunday’s entertainment.

The event has been organised by the CF31 group of local traders with support from Bridgend Town Council and Bridgend County Borough Council.

Councillor Charles Smith, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “The Street Roots Festival is going to be a family friendly event offering a diverse range of entertainment and will provide a vibrant start to a week in which we are also excited to be hosting the Urdd Eisteddfod in Pencoed.”
