New recycling containers being delivered throughout the county borough

25 May 2017

New recycling containers are currently being delivered to homes across Bridgend County Borough ready for changes to home recycling starting on Monday 5 June.

All homes, other than those that use communal recycling bins, are getting a new orange fabric sack for recycling their cardboard, a new white fabric sack for recycling paper, and a new black container for their glass. New blue fabric bags for plastics and metals are also being provided to replace the old worn ones, while each household is also being given a supply of the new blue rubbish bags which should be used for non-recyclable waste.

The containers and waste bags are being delivered separately from the information packs and calendars which are being sent to homes through the post.

Everyone who has registered for the new recycling collection for nappies and other absorbent waste products will receive their supply of purple bags separately before 5 June, while larger households who have registered for extra dispensations will also receive their additional light blue bags separately ready for 5 June.

Councillor Hywel Williams, the council’s Deputy Leader, said: “Please look out for the information booklet and your new collection calendar which will arrive through your letterbox. Many collection days will change from Monday 5 June onwards so it is important to check your calendar, while the booklet explains everything you need to know about your new recycling containers and the new two-bag fortnightly limit on waste. Full details can also be found at”

If you have any questions about the new arrangements, you can ask them at recycling roadshows which will held at the Tesco store on Brewery Lane, Bridgend, this Thursday 25 May and Friday 26 May from 11:30am - 6:30pm, and the Tesco Extra store on Cowbridge Road, Bridgend this Saturday and Sunday. The roadshow team will also be walking the streets of Porthcawl town centre over the weekend.

Local residents are also advised that there will be no recycling and waste collections on Monday 29 May due to the bank holiday, so collections will be one day later than usual for the remainder of the week up until Saturday 3 June.
