Still time to sign up for garden waste recycling service

23 March 2017

There is still time for gardeners to register for Bridgend County Borough Council’s green waste recycling service.

Fortnightly collections will make it possible to recycle green waste including plants, flowers, weeds, grass, leaves and hedge clippings.

Collections will start from Monday 3 April and the service will continue throughout the main growing season up until the middle of November. Residents can sign up for this year’s collections for a one-off payment of £27 per household, with a discounted rate of £23 for pensioners.

Once payment is confirmed, households will be supplied with two reusable sacks for their green waste which will be collected every two weeks on an allocated day.

Anyone who signed up for last year’s scheme is advised to check their new collection leaflet to see when their garden waste will be collected this year, as many of the collection days are changing.

To register for the garden waste recycling scheme, please call the council on 01656 643643 and have your payment details ready. The first garden waste collections will then take place during the week commencing Monday 3 April.

Garden waste can also be taken to the ‘tip’ at the household recycling centres in Tythegston, Brynmenyn Industrial Estate and the Heol Ty Gwyn Industrial Estate in Maesteg.

Please note that the household recycling centres will revert to summer opening hours from Saturday 1 April, which means that they will be open 8:30am – 8pm from Monday to Friday and 8:30am – 6pm on weekends. For further details about recycling in Bridgend County Borough, please visit our recycling pages.
