Forum celebrates St David's Day at sell-out business breakfast

More than 140 business people attended a breakfast in celebration of St David’s Day 2017 organised by Bridgend Business Forum and supported by Bridgend County Borough Council at the Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch recently.

At the sell-out event keynote speaker, Nigel Owens MBE recounted amusing tales of his experiences both on and off the pitch. Business delegates were kept thoroughly entertained with his amusing anecdotes about matches he has refereed including stories of the players and characters he’s met along the way. His determination and tough decision making were something guests could take inspiration from and apply to the challenging world of business too.

Ian Jessopp, Bridgend Business Forum Chairman who opened the event said: “The forum represents the diverse blend of business sectors that are in the area, from smaller owner operator businesses to SME’s and on to multinationals. The forum retains the ability to provide each of them with a level playing field to work with each other and nurture business growth.

“Good business owners know we can’t afford to rest on our laurels; we are always seeking develop our organisations and there is much support available through the forum and the council to enable us to achieve this.”  

Speaking at the event, Deputy Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, Councillor Hywel Williams said: “It’s brilliant to see so many businesses here today, speaking to each other and networking.

“In true St David’s Day style, we are celebrating all that is great about Wales and in particular, the success of Welsh enterprise in Bridgend County Borough. Success which is evident from the many excellent businesses here, today.

“The council is very proud to support the work of the forum, which remains a positive influence within the business community, promoting collaborative working and a vital link between the public and private sector in Bridgend County Borough – which in turn enables local companies to develop, prosper and grow.”
