Bridgend’s summer street markets start this Saturday

15 June 2017

The first in a series of monthly street markets will be held on Caroline Street in Bridgend town centre on Saturday 17 June, with around 20 market chalets selling food, crafts and unique products.

A number of local businesses will be selling their wares, ranging from craft ales to science fiction collectables, as well as traders from further afield bringing something new to the town such as ‘Ridiculously Rich by Alana’ – the handmade cakes and chocolates business formed by last year’s Apprentice winner, Alana Spencer.

There will also be entertainment for children to enjoy and a chance to have your fortune told by palmist Anna Lee.

The street market has been organised by Bridgend County Borough Council with support from town centre traders who are part of the ‘CF31’ group, and will take place from 10am – 4pm. Further street markets will then take place on Saturday 15 July, Saturday 19 August, and Saturday 16 September.

Councillor Charles Smith, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “With plenty on offer for shoppers, entertainment for the kids and lots of eateries, the monthly street market will make a great addition to the town centre this summer, and complements the indoor market.”
