Deadline approaching for Mayor’s Citizenship Awards
11 January 2017
Do you know an unsung hero who would be a worthy winner of a Mayor’s Citizenship Award?
The Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor Reg Jenkins, is inviting local residents to put forward the names of the special individuals, groups or businesses who deserve recognition.
It could be a volunteer who has regularly gone the extra mile for others over many years, somebody you know who is an exceptional charity fundraiser, someone who put the local area on the map by achieving something extraordinary during 2016, or a community group that is working wonders.
The Mayor’s Citizenship Awards are open to people of all ages who live in Bridgend County Borough, as well as local groups and businesses based locally.
The Mayor, Councillor Reg Jenkins, said: “We want to uncover the stories of those unsung heroes who are making a positive impact, and reward fine examples of citizenship and community spirit.
“The Mayor’s Citizenship Awards are our version of the New Years’ Honours List, but we can’t reward these community heroes without your help. The deadline for nominations is fast approaching, so please don’t miss the chance to give someone the appreciation they deserve.”
The deadline for nominations is Friday 27 January, and the award winners will be honoured at an event hosted by the Mayor at the Civic Offices in Bridgend in March.
