Reward local heroes in Mayor’s Citizenship Awards
09 November 2016
Do you know someone who regularly goes the extra mile for others, is an outstanding charity fundraiser, or has put the local area on the map by achieving something special during 2016?
As the year comes to a close, the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough is asking local residents to put forward their nominations of individuals, groups or businesses who are worthy of a Mayor’s Citizenship Award.
Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor Reg Jenkins said: “We want to uncover the stories of those unsung heroes who are making an impact in our local communities, and give them the appreciation they deserve.
“Last year’s worthy winners included a number of volunteers, fundraisers who collectively raised thousands of pounds for good causes, and other residents who are putting their communities on the map in a positive way. I’m very much looking forward to meeting these local heroes at the awards event, but first of all I need your help. Please get your nominations in as soon as possible.”
Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, the awards are open to people who live in the county borough, as well as local groups and businesses based locally.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 27 January 2017, and the award winners will be honoured at an event hosted by the Mayor at the Civic Offices in Bridgend in March 2017.
