Comedians Russell Kane and Rob Beckett perform at Maesteg Town Hall

17 May 2016

Have you heard the one about Maesteg Town Hall…? The venue has secured two high profile stand-up comedians this autumn.

Rob Beckett is bringing his hit show ‘Mouth of the South’ to the 500-seater venue on Thursday 17 November at 8pm, and is hoping for another sell-out performance.

After quickly establishing himself on the circuit, Rob’s ‘cheeky chappy’ persona has seen him winning fans and starring on numerous TV shows.

Recent TV appearances include BBC1’s Live At The Apollo and Would I Lie To You?, Channel 4’s 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, BBC2’s Mock The Week and ITV1’s Play To The Whistle, and ITV2’s Celebrity Juice.

Just a week later on Thursday 24 November at 8pm, yet another award winning comedian will tread the boards at Maesteg, with Russell Kane bringing his brand new ‘Right Man, Wrong Age’ show.

Russell is best known from his regular appearances on BBC 1's Live at the Apollo, BBC 3's Live at the Electric and ITV2's Celebrity Juice. He was recently announced as host of Virgin Radio's The Saturday Show.

Famed for his critically acclaimed tours and sell-out shows, Russell made history as the first comedian to win both the Edinburgh Award and Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Barry Award in one year.

Richard Hughes, Chief Executive of Awen Cultural Trust, the charity which runs Maesteg Town Hall, said: “We are delighted to have attracted some of the biggest names in contemporary comedy to the Town Hall, for local people and visitors to Maesteg to enjoy. Rob Beckett and Russell Kane are two of the best known comedians in the UK and their addition to our line-up of events planned for the venue this autumn is fantastic news for the area.”

Tickets for Rob Beckett cost £15.50 while tickets for Russell Kane cost £17.50. Tickets for both performances are available from Maesteg Library on 01656 815995 or online at
