Local Connection

Now, we think you are Eligible for help, are Homeless under the law, fall into a Priority Need group, and are not considered homeless 'Intentionally'.
It's very likely that you are entitled to longer-term temporary housing.
The final thing we need to check is whether the council you applied to for housing can ask another council to take responsibility for you instead.
You will not be just told to go elsewhere - your application will be looked at properly and formal procedures followed.
To establish if you could be referred to another Council, we need to look at 'Local Connection'.
Someone may have a local connection if they:
have lived in the borough for six out of the last 12 months, with the exception of temporary accommodation provided by another local authority. (Time spent in hospital or prison do not count either.)
have lived in the borough for three out of the last five years, with the exception of temporary accommodation provided by another local authority (Time spent in hospital or prison do not count either.)
have permanent employment in the borough (not casual work, but part-time or voluntary work usually counts.)
have a close relative who has lived in the borough for the last five years (e.g. mother, father, sister, brother, son or daughter - possibly also grandparents if you have lived with them.)
