Although it is not pleasant to be living somewhere if there are rows and disagreements, the Council would normally expect your ex-partner to allow you a reasonable time to find somewhere else to live (providing there is no risk of violence).
You should check your rights by getting independent legal advice. It is important to remember that, when a relationship breaks down, you may be have rights to stay in the property even if you are not legally married to your ex.
