Status of the UDP

When adopted, the UDP will replace the current development plan for the area which comprises the Mid Glamorgan Replacement Structure Plan, the Mid Glamorgan Mineral Local Plan for Limestone Quarrying and the Ogwr Borough Local Plan. Taken together, these plans have an end date of 2006.

The current development plan contains land allocations which are under construction or have the benefit of planning consent and the UDP will have to acknowledge many of these commitments.

The UDP will give a clear indication of where development will be encouraged in the County Borough, and equally where it will be resisted. The UDP will also be the main document referred to when planning applications are determined by the Council.

The UDP will therefore be important in determining the future development of every community in the County Borough.
