New Sunday Bus Services and Improved Connections to Pen-y-Fai

New Sunday Bus Services

In the weeks leading to Christmas, Bridgend County Borough Council funded Sunday bus services on three routes which normally have no services on Sundays. As a result of the success of this initiative, the provision of Sunday services has been extended for a further period of six months at which time the usage will be reviewed in order to evaluate whether they will become permanent.

The new services started operating on Sunday 9 March 2008 and follow the same route as the weekday services.

Improved Connections to and from Pen-y-Fai

Some time ago First Cymru Buses made changes to its services operating between Bridgend and Pen-y-Fai which resulted in the loss of the link between Pen-y-Fai and Aberkenfig. Following intervention by Bridgend’s Transport Co-ordinating Unit, arrangements have now been made to restore that link.

SERVICE No. 4 – Bridgend Bus Station to Aberkenfig via Pen-y-Fai

From Monday 10 March 2008 Service No 4 will operate through Pen-y-Fai on its way to and from Aberkenfig.

The first service will depart Bridgend Bus Station at 07:50, then operates every hour until 1750, leaving Pen-y-Fai (Heol Tynygarn) at 56 minutes past each hour and arriving at Aberkenfig Square on the hour.

The return journey leaves Aberkenfig Square on the hour, each hour until 1800 arriving Pen-y-Fai (Heol Tynygarn) at 4 minutes past the hour and arriving at Bridgend Bus Station at 10 past the hour.
