Equalities

Bridgend County Borough Council is committed to promoting equality and valuing diversity in all its roles as community leader, service provider and fair employer. This means treating all citizens fairly and with respect, irrespective of age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexuality or language.

This commitment is an integral part of the Bridgend County Borough Community Strategy 2005 -2016. We will work closely with our partners in the community to challenge discrimination, promote equality and build a community where we can all live, work and learn together.

Equalities News

Under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, the Council is required, in all its services, to have due regard to the need to: eliminate racial discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and promote equality of opportunity, and promote good race relations. The Council is required to publish a Race Equality Scheme setting out how well we will meet these duties - click here to see an update on the revised Race Equality Scheme.
