Valleys to Coast Housing
Valleys to Coast Housing (V2C) took over the management of the council’s housing stock in September 2003. It was formed as an independent, not-for-profit, registered social landlord following a massive tenant vote of approval in November 2002 in order to deliver an ambitious programme of home improvements for tenants.
V2C has been quick off the mark in starting the works. 120 homes have already been bought up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard and Dunraven Windows and Bowater Windows have been installing new doors and windows since January 2004. Within five years from the date of transfer all tenants will have benefited from this programme.
From September 2004 strategic partners Lovell and Connaught begin a programme of improvements focusing on central heating and new kitchen installations.
There is a lot of money being spent on tenant’s homes and V2C is working closely with key partners, including Bridgend County Borough Council, to keep as much money as possible in the local economy. This will contribute towards creating new jobs and sustaining existing ones.
V2C is regulated by The National Assembly for Wales and is governed by a Board of four tenants, four Council representatives and four independent members. A quarterly Newsletter is published to keep both tenants and leaseholders up to date with developments and the V2C website will be going live in the next few months.
